I installed the code but don’t see any data. What should I do?
First, go through this checklist.
- Make sure the code on your page is EXACTLY the same as we provided. < and > symbols shouldn't be replaced with < and >
- Close all browsers. Open a new one and search on a phrase that you know leads to your site. (your domain name is usually a good choice, if you have a site www.mysite.com search on mysite.com). When you see a link to your site, click on it.
- Go to HitTail, login and go to the search results tab.
If you see the search hit you just performed - it means the code is working. If not:
- Go to the My Account page
- Double-check the spelling of the URL that you provided, make sure there are no typos.
- If the URL is correct and you still don't see any data try this: in the URL field remove "www" if you have it, or add "www" if you don't have it. Save.
- Close all browsers, open a new browser window and search on mysite.com.
- Go to HitTail, login and see if the search hit was recorded under the Search Hits tab.
